Stop - Journal Time.
Feb. 23rd, 2012 08:45 pmNOTE: This is pretty much a copy-pasta'd journal from my dA account, but I really wanted to have something up, since this looks so very bare! I promise not all my journal entries will be exact copies and I'm sorry for the length of this one. XD
Hi guys! Its been forever since I posted a journal, even on my old account. There's a lot that has happened in the last year or so, so I haven't really had time to post one - but no time like the present to start anew! :D I'm hoping that posting regular journals will help me as far as accountability and feedback for my hobbies - roleplay, drawing, writing, and of course, cosplay!
Life:
First and foremost, as far as REAL LIFE is concerned, I got a new job about 7 months ago. (Before that, I had been working at a call center as customer service and was miserable. Ripping people off doesn't really sit well with me.) Now I'm doing something that uses my degree, is satisfying on a moral level, and is a night-shift and therefore cures me of mornings! 8D I even like most of the people I work with. There have been a few bumps here and there, but I hope I get to stay there for a long time. I'll keep doing my best!
I also became an aunt a little over a year ago, which was unexpected but exciting! There's been a bit of drama associated with that thanks to things not working out between daddy and mommy, which has been another factor keeping me from really having net time. Hopefully things will start clearing up on that front soon.
Writing and Drawing:
I've been listening to a lot of audiobooks at work to stay awake, and it has really helped my writing! Words come more naturally and, even more awesome, the actual desire to write and create comes more readily! I'm not sure if I will post my writing here, or make a separate account for it...but I'm definitely doing a lot more of it, either way. ^^
Oh, yeah, yet again, I am going to attempt a webcomic! While the boys from my original attempt are by no means gone, I think I need to fluff out their plot and characters a bit more before actually drawing it out. So I have another series that I've been writing and working on in mind, and I hope to have some sketches (and maybe pages) up soon! A few of you might recognize the premise and some of the characters kufufufu. >w>
And while I'm on the subject of webcomics~
My friend recently started an AMAZING webcomic called Green Lion. Go read and support it here -----> www.greenlioncomic.com . She is such a spectacular artist and the comic is just beautiful - she puts a ton of work into making every page look amazing.
Cosplay:
I just got back going to Katsucon with my friends Zelda and Pannon as they made their second shot at World Cosplay Summit! It was the farthest I'd ever traveled (Maryland), and I was really nervous about it - there were a few hiccups with the airline and luggage, but otherwise everything went safely!
Pannon and Zelda's performance ranked as one of the top ten competitors from across the U.S., and I was super proud of them! Their skit was really polished and fun, and they both worked so hard on their costumes. Zelda made Beatrice's gown from Umineko no Naku Koro Ni and looked amazing, and Pannon sewed every piece of Battler's costume from the same series (suit, shirt, tie, vest, and all!) and looked quite dashing. ;D
Due to WCS craziness we sadly weren't able to perform the skit I wrote for the Masquerade, which was a song rewrite of Modern Major General from Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance. I did complete my costume for the skit, though - Jiraiya from Naruto - and I hope to get some nice pictures of him soon. I was really proud of him! As far as construction goes I think he was my best work. I was proud of the skit as well, and my awesome brother said he would be willing to help me record it as a youtube video/song piece, so that it doesn't go to waste. ^^ He also offered to take some pictures of my costume. Hopefully those will be up soon!
Next on my list is Anime Salt Lake, which is in a week - I'll be helping Pannon out with the panels she is running, as well as my favorite event, Battle Cosplay! I'll also be helping a bit with the cosplay contest, and I'm excited to see all the entrants.
If all goes as planned I shall be debuting my Izaya Orihara (Durarara!) costume at this con~ 8Db Not re-wearing anything already constructed, sadly - I needed something comfy that I can run around in. (Next big con after this will be Fanime - but I won't worry about that one until AFTER ASL is out of the way.)
Anyway, if you made it to the end of this journal entry, I HOPE IT WAS WORTH IT <3
Much love,
Kame
